Changing Relationships between Work, Care and Welfare in Europe (WORKCARE) (2006 – 2008)

The main aim is to empirically develop the model of Social Quality in the field of welfare, work and care, by bringing together policies, structural and cultural indicators at a macro level with actions, orientations and values of individuals and households at a micro level, articulating objective and subjective measures of the quality of life.

Time Use over the Life Course (2005 – 2006)

The purpose of the project is to carry out secondary data analysis on four surveys and to write four separate, policy relevant papers summarizing the deeper, multivariate analysis undertaken: Paper 1: The Quality of Work and the Quality of Life; Paper 2: Participation in Civil Society; Paper 3: the Quality of Life in Rural Europe; Paper 4: Time Use across the Life Course.

To measure and explain how people´s social values, cultural norms and behaviour patterns are distributed, the way in which they differ within and between nations, and the direction and speed at which they are changing.

Workcare Synergies/Trabalhar e cuidar na Europa (2010 - 2011)

Workcare Synergies is a project that aims to disseminate the results of research projects funded by the European Union Framework Programs on gender equality policies in the field of work and family care in public and private contexts and aims to promote some discussion around the work-family articulation. We focused in the child care services and family work in Europe and gender equality in the labor market in Europe.

PASSDA – Production and Archive of Social Science Data (2018 – 2020)

Coordination of the CIEG / ISCSP-Ulisboa team of this project funded by Portugal 2020, in partnership with the Center for Administration and Public Policy (CAPP / ISCSP-Ulisboa), the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS), the Higher Institute of Economics and Management (ISEG-ULisboa), the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology - University of Lisbon Institute (CIES-IUL) and the Center for Social Studies (CES). The PASSDA consortium ensures Portugal's participation in one of the major European and international struture dedicated to collecting and archiving data on socio-political attitudes, values and behaviors.

Ge-HEI - Gender Equality in Higher Education Institutions (2018 – 2021)

Coordination of the CIEG / ISCSP-Ulisboa team in partnership with the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGES) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES), the Agency of to Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions (A3ES), and the Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference at the University of Iceland (RIKK). This project is funded by EEAgrants  2014-2021, and it aims to understand the causes of the persistent gender inequality in HEI, also aims to develop new knowledge and a set of Gender Equality  recommendation and criteria for Higher Education Institutions.

Drugs and Prisons Portugal II (2007 – 2008)

Responsável pelo projecto Drogas e Prisões em Portugal II, financiado pelo Instituto da Droga e da Toxicodependência.

Drogas e Prisões II trata-se de um estudo que pretende replicar a investigação realizada em 2001, e tem como objectivo principal conhecer as transformações operadas desde então no meio prisional português. Assim, ambiciona-se com este estudo obter dados quantitativos precisos sobre a caracterização da população prisional portuguesa, quer a nível da etologia dos crimes, quer da real extensão da problemática das drogas nas prisões, bem como dados sobre a saúde dos reclusos. E ainda, identificar diferentes perfis de reclusos e ainda perceber as principais inquietações tanto de directores como de reclusos sobre a vida nos estabelecimentos prisionais.

Work, Family, Gender Equality and Social Policy: Changes in a European Comparative Perspective (2005 – 2008)

The investigation proposed falls within the framework of research work at a European level entitled The changing relationship between work, welfare and gender equality in Europe: Developing a capabilities approach to transition using quantitative and qualitative cross-national comparison between and within European countries. It involves 26 countries from the four corners of the continent. The main object of this research is to gain an insight into and explain the relationship between work, family care, well-being and gender equality.

Searching for New Fathers (2004 – 2005)

The study of man's role in the pursuit of equality goals emerges as a central matter in this project. Moreover, this research aims to realize the process of parenthood formation according to social and cultural diversity of young parents, as a way to understand, to identify and if possible to explain the existence of different and/or new attitudes towards fatherhood.

Toxicodependentes: Trajectórias, Perfis Psicosociológicos, Padrões Familiares e Processos Mentais (2003 – 2005)

Responsável pela pesquisa Toxicodependentes: trajectórias, perfis psico-sociológicos, padrões familiares e processos mentais, projecto classificado com Muito Bom, financiado pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), através de concurso público de âmbito internacional, ao abrigo do POCTI.

Os objectivos centrais da pesquisa são: compreender o que leva a maioria dos jovens nas sociedades contemporâneas a experimentarem drogas sem nunca se tornarem dependentes; porque razão é que outros experimentam esse tipo de substâncias e se tornam apenas consumidores regulares de determinadas drogas e porque razão outros ainda passam da experimentação à toxicodependência conduzindo até, nalguns casos, a modos de vida baseados nas delinquências.

Drug Addiction in Prisons: a Diagnosis (2001 – 2002)

Responsible for this research funded by the Portuguese Institute of Drugs and Drug Addiction (IPDT) and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the protocol for conducting research projects on drug addiction.

This study aimed to characterize the drug use conditions, substances, also the trajectories and profiles of the inmates who use drugs.

Coordination of the assessment of three national plans:

IV National Plan for Gender Equality, Citizenship and Non-discrimination 2014-2017; II Programme of Action for the Prevention and Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation; and National Action Plan for the Implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

The assessment took place in the CIEG/ISCSP-ULisboa, and it was funded by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender equality (CIG).

 

National Survey on Additive Behaviors in Prison (2014)

Coordination of the project in cooperation with the Ministry of Health's Addictional Behavior Intervention Service (SICAD), which aimed to gather relevant information on drug, alcohol, tobacco and gambling practices of inmates. It also sought to gather information on the concerns of prisoners and directors about aspects of prison life.Also we gather information about inmate and directors concerns around the life in prison.

Gender Equality and the Ages of Life (2016 - 2017)

Coordination of the project funded by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos (FFMS) that sought to characterise gender relations at the different ages of life, in different social and geographical contexts, situating Portugal in the European context.

EPITeen24: Reproducing or going against social destiny? A longitudinal study of a cohort born in 1990 in Portugal (2013 - 2015)

Responsible for the EPITeen longitudinal project that had followed the health and social pathways of a cohort of individuals born in 1990 and surveyed at 13, 17, 21 and 23/24 years.

This project associated a research team from ISCSP, composed by sociologists and other social scientists with expertise in different areas - work, education, family, gender, social classes, health, quality of life, social capital and social networks - to a research team from ISPUP, Institute of Public Health, University of Porto. And it aimed to evaluate how the social conditions of origin mark the trajectories and different opportunities of young people, defining them different destinations; as well as to evaluate the factors that contribute to the contradiction of social destiny, that is, to systematically study the paths of upward or downward social mobility, and also sought to understand the effects of the economic and financial crisis of recent years on social and individual trajectories.

Break even - promoting gender equality in business (2014 – 2016)

This project was led by the  Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG, University of Lisbon), in partnership with  CIEG-ISCSP (Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies of the Lisbon School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Lisbon), the  Centre for Studies for Social Intervention (CESIS) and the  Centre for Gender Research of the University of Oslo. The project was funded by the  European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA Grants, 2009-2014), and aimed to contribute to the optimization of the companies' management systems, their organizational models and decision-making processes, as well as an improvement of the working environment and the overall organizational performance.

Sexual Harassment and Bullying in the Workplace (2014 – 2015)

Coordination of the project promoted by the Commission for Equality in Work and Employment (CITE). The project aimed to know the dimension of sexual harassment and bullying in the Workplace, to discover how sexual harassment is perceived by society and how the targets of harassment react, and who they turn to for support. The results contributed decisively to the knowledge of the phenomenon and to the change of the law in Portugal.

Evaluation of the 11th edition of the Equality is Quality Award (2014)

Men and Women between Work and Family (1997 – 1999)

Responsável pela pesquisa Homens e Mulheres entre Família e Trabalho, projecto classificado com Muito Bom e financiado pelo Programa Praxis, através de concurso público. Através deste projecto aplicou-se a nível nacional o inquérito que foi concebido na rede internacional a que se pertence.
